The cost to run a school choir program is significant. For students to participate in music festivals, concerts, tours and competitions, there is a tremendous amount of support behind the scenes which make it all happen. Not all costs are covered by the local school district. Funding from the District is essentially the cost of the Director and the classroom. The Booster support organization is the primary support for the choir's extracurricular activities.
Once the booster board of directors establishes a budget for the year, the board will develop a number of fundraisers which students, parents, teachers and relatives can participate. Participation is encouraged and is voluntary. The entire cost of the program is fundraised and the level of activity the entire choir participate in will be dependent on these proceed and any other donations and grants which we receive. So it is extremely important that everyone in the booster organization and the choir participate in the fundraising activities. This amount is all inclusive with the exception of personal items and admission fees to the choir's performance events.
Effective this year, all fundraiser proceeds will be designated to the current school year. We will NOT carry over "fundraising" proceeds to the next school year. The exceptions to this would be budgeted reserves or fundraising windfalls. Those proceeds will be designated to the general account of the choir for the next school year.
It is our hope that you will participate in all of this year's fundraisers. It is not our intention for parents to buy all the products you or your child are asked to sell, unless, of course, you want the item. It would be less costly to you, the parent, to provide us with a donation for a portion of the cost instead. As you can see, fundraising is the MOST important component for the viability of the choir program. We hope you will support your child, the choir and the booster organization in helping us meet our fundraising goals.
